WAYS TO HELP SOMEONE WHO IS GRIEVING
1. Try to fully understand the grieving process.
2. Understand that “Everybody Grieves Differently”.
3. Proactively talk about the deceased person
4. Understand that grief makes people fragile—forever.
5. Show patience with your grieving friends or family.
6. Be smart in what you say.
7. Remember those “tough” days.
8. Don’t offer advice, offer options.
9. Be proactive vs. reactive when helping a griever.
10. Just “BE THERE” for them.
11. Give the griever “permission to get emotional, cry, or express anger or frustration.
12. Be a good listener. Let the griever tell their story.
13. Understand that you don’t have to know what to say, just BE THERE
